FTSE in the pits as miners drag it down

Miners weighed down the FTSE after positive gains yesterday

The FTSE 100 Index closed down 31.54 points, or 0.59 per cent, to 5323.96 31.54 this afternoon led by mining stocks and travel firms.

Nomura fined £1.75m for systems failings

The FSA has fined Nomura £1.75m for inadequate systems and controls

Nomura International has been fined £1.75 million by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) for serious systems and control failings which breached the regulator's principles.

Lloyds Banking Group, Britain's largest mortgage lender, today set out details of a £13.5 billion rights issue.

The FTSE fell 31 points on its open led by mining stocks

The FTSE 100 Index lost 31.65 points, or 0.6 per cent, to 5,323.85 on its open led by mining stocks as metal prices fell back again.
