NS&I: New premium bond millionaire

National Savings & Investments (NS&I) has announced a man from Lancashire has become July's Premium Bond millionaire.

It is the eleventh time, according to NS&I, the £1 million jackpot prize has been won by an investor living in the county.

The organisation is promoting the latest win as it releases statistics revealing more than 10,300 premium bond prizes worth more than £604,550 have yet to be claimed

NS&I recently revamped the way it handed out prizes and replaced one of two monthly £1 million premium bond jackpot prizes with a wider mix of other sums in the monthly draws.

And it introduced a £25 prize to provide more chance for people to win the tax-free payouts.

A spokesperson for NS&I said: "Like all NS&I products, Premium Bonds offer investors 100 per cent capital security, backed by HM Treasury, as well as the sense of fun that comes from potentially winning tax-free prizes.

"Since the first Premium Bonds prize draw in 1957, over 191 million tax-free prizes worth over £12 billion have been paid out."
