Halifax mobile phone trading 'proving popular'

Tuesday, 08 March 2011 04:27

The Halifax Share Dealing mobile phone trading facility is growing in popularity, the organisation has suggested.

Research published by the bank suggests the vast majority of people using the service are regular traders and in its first week more than 2,000 customers had logged on to the service.

According to Halifax, the average amount traded is £740, with the largest trade being £3,000 and the smallest being just £20.

The average age of mobile phone traders was found to be 36, but customers range in age from 18 to 82, suggesting the service has a broad appeal.

However, so far the vast majority of users - 92 per cent - have been men, although this is something that Halifax expects to change as the service becomes more well known.

Damien Stansfield, managing director at Halifax Share Dealing, said: "We have worked hard to ensure the mobile phone trading service is as quick and easy as possible and can be carried out at our customers' convenience."
