Retiree sets up own investment intelligence tool

A retired furniture maker who became disillusioned with the state of his pension fund has set up his own investor intelligence tool.

Douglas Chadwick came up with the idea for Saltydog Investor after successfully managing an investment bond on the Skandia platform.

That experience made him realise that he and others could run their pensions and Isas in a similar way.

Mr Chadwick's team has developed a highly sophisticated algorithm-based system which sorts and produces fund performance data.

They also runs their own in-house portfolio and publish its performance in a monthly newsletter and more frequently on the website.

"I want people to realise that they have the power to have much greater choices and opportunities over their finances," he revealed. "This is unique and the first investment tool in the UK to provide the performance data in a format that allows an individual to have the confidence to move their money between funds they have selected themselves."
