Private equity investments

Private equity investments are a medium to long term investment in potentially high growth companies that are not listed on a public stock market in return for a large equity stake in that company.
Examples of private equity investments include new start-ups or ventures not yet listed on the stock market whose assets can't yet be traded publicly. Other private equity investments include bailing out large troubled private companies with the aim of restructuring and then selling them for a tidy profit.
If you are considering a private equity investment it is important to fully understand the risks involved and the markets and types of business Private equity funds target.
