New car needed for a new job

A reader from Cumbria needs a loan for a car, but her credit rating is not perfect.

Jo Crosse, Halifax and Bank of Scotland personal loans expert, tackles the problem.

Zoe from Carlisle asks:

I am starting a new job and need a car to drive to my new workplace.

I don't have a great credit rating.

Are there any lenders who might be able to help me?

Jo replies:

Before you apply for a loan, if you are worried about your credit rating it may be worth reviewing your credit profile with one of the credit reference agencies - you can find out your current credit rating and get tips on how you can improve your credit score.

They may also offer advice on which lenders you'd be likely to get accepted with given the current status of your profile.
