Santander credit card: Holiday winner

Santander is offering fee-free usage abroad and is ditching charges for cash advances on its Zero credit card.

Holidaymakers using the card anywhere in the world will benefit from these perks, as well as zero per cent interest on balance transfers for purchases for 12 months.

And there is also no interest on purchases for three months.

Callum Gibson, director at Santander Cards, said: " Santander Zero is the only credit card on the market to offer fee-free foreign usage anywhere in the world and no fee for cash advances, making it ideal for both day-to-day spending while on holiday, and also those rare times holidaymakers might need to take out cash in an emergency."

Santander is promoting the card as it unveils research showing the average holiday budget is being cut by £256 per person per week.

Most people surveyed said they were cutting back on eating out and holiday spending money.

Mr Gibson said holiday expenditure could be reduced further by using a fee-free card and always paying in the local currency. This means holidaymakers would avoid being charged dynamic currency fees for converting the purchase to sterling.
