MBNA launches text service for credit card customers

MBNA has announced the launch of a new service designed to make it easier to manage credit card accounts.

Customers in the UK can now get information almost instantly by sending an SMS message through the Mobile Banking Text offering.

Ian Craig of Bank of America Europe Card Services, which runs the MBNA brand, explained the move is designed to ensure more choice and greater control over finances in a way that fits consumers' lifestyles.

Details available include recent transactions and balances and Mr Craig described the system as a "simple, straightforward" way to bank that "puts [customers'] credit card information at their fingertips whenever they need it".
