Changes ahead for credit card holders

Wednesday, 29 December 2010 12:00

Credit card holders are set to benefit from changes in the new year, according to the UK Cards Association.

It reminded the 30 million UK credit card holders they will be given greater control over their accounts thanks to changes that are set to be implemented in 2011.

These include measures to ensure the most expensive debt will always be paid off first, which is likely to be of direct benefit to a quarter of accounts.

Melanie Johnson, chair of The UK Cards Association, said: "The industry continues to work and consult with the consumer bodies and debt advice agencies to ensure that it can best protect the vulnerable or those in financial difficulty."
