Barclaycard launches two-year interest free deal

Tuesday, 19 July 2011 12:51

Barclaycard has kickstarted a price war with other credit card providers by offering a two-years interest free on balance transfers.

The offer is available for a limited time only and could provide significant savings to customers saddled with large debts on existing cards.

It comes in response to the launch of a 20-month interest-free deal by Halifax.

Commenting on the figures, credit card spokesperson at price comparison website moneysupermarket.com Hannah-Mercedes Skenfield said the recent introduction of these two offers show the credit card wars are "really hotting up".

Following the Hailfax announcement, she continued, "Barclaycard has responded immediately with a deal that blows all others out of the water - a staggering two year interest free on balance transfers - a UK first".

"It is difficult to see how this deal can be bettered, so it will be interesting to see how other providers respond," Ms Skenfield added.
