Customers taking out a Clarity Credit card from the Halifax could benefit from a new offer announced this week.

Anyone applying for the card in branch or over the phone between now and February 19th 2012 will receive £5 for every £500 in balance transfers they move over, up to a maximum of £40.

The card offers an interest rate of 12.9 per cent AER and does not charge customers to withdraw cash. There is also no annual fee or balance transfer levy and the card can be used worldwide without a financial penalty.

Head of Halifax cards Richard Washington said: "The Halifax Clarity card really does set the standard for simplicity."

Furthermore, Halifax current account holders will receive £5 every month that they spend £300 on their Clarity card, while new customers who switch their bank account to Halifax will also benefit from a one-off gift of £100.

Last month, Halifax announced its Kids Fixed Saver range to allow parents to build up a nest egg for their offspring.
