As the credit crunch strangles Briton's finances, more people are taking in lodgers to ensure they can cover mortgage repayments.

Maxine McKenzie from Directgov, the government website providing access to all public services, is no hand to talk you through all the pitfall of taking lodgers.

We'll be looking at the tax implications, how to pick a good lodger and what you have to legally provide as a landlord.
