First Direct has launched two new fixed-rate offset mortgages with rates beginning at 3.34 per cent.

People who want to borrow up to 60 per cent of the value of their property can take advantage of the newly introduced deals.

The 3.34 per cent rate applies to First Direct's two-year deal, which comes with an arrangement fee of £999 and a booking fee of £499.

And a rate of 4.24 per cent is available for the three-year fixed-rate mortgage which has an arrangement fee of £499 and a booking fee of £499.

Jimmy Kelly, mortgage manager for First Direct, said: "Mortgage rates are moving around a lot at the moment, however we always aim to be one of, if not the, leading rate.

"Our two new fixed rate products reflect the fact that nearly 50 per cent of our customers put down deposits of over 60 per cent."
