Yorkshire Building Society has announced it is to offer a two-year fixed-rate mortgage at 2.99 per cent with a fee of £995.

The product is available up to 50 per cent loan-to-value (LTV) and is aimed at those borrowers who own more than half of their home.

There is also a two-year fixed-rate mortgage available to those with slightly less equity in their property.

It comes with a rate of 3.09 per cent up to 60 per cent LTV and a fee of £1,195.

Tom Girling, product manager for mortgages at the firm, said that the product will appeal to around four in ten mortgage holders who own more than half of their home.
