Britain's most expensive streets revealed

Parkside in Merton, London is the most expensive street in Britain, new research from Halifax has revealed.

The area, which is a short walk from Wimbledon's All England Tennis Club, boasts an average house price of over £5 million.

Cedar Park Gardens, which is also situated in Merton, came seventh with property values hovering at around £3.5 million.

According to the data, over half of the top 20 pricey roads in England and Wales are in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, including Wycombe Square - last year's most expensive street, which fell to second in this poll.

"The prime, central London location continues to attract affluent celebrities and ultra-wealthy foreign businessmen, helping to drive up house prices," Nitesh Patel, housing economist at Halifax, said.

Recent figures from the Land Registry revealed prices in London jumped 6.6 per cent in November 2010, when compared with the same period the year before.
