Yorkshire Building Society offers two-year fix at 2.99%

Yorkshire Building Society has unveiled a new fee free 60 per cent loan-to-value (LTV) mortgage with a two-year fixed rate of 2.99 per cent.

Chris Smith, the society's group direct product manager, stated the product may appeal to individuals who would rather not have to agree to a long-term commitment.

"Fees often act as a barrier for individuals when they are trying to buy a mortgage and we hope that this will go some way to help alleviate this problem," he said.

Mr Smith added the Yorkshire is aiming to appeal to a wide selection of people by reducing its fixed-rate offerings.

Alternatively, consumers seeking something a little different could opt for a 75 per cent LTV two-year fix at a rate of 3.39 per cent and subject to fees of £95.

There are 178 UK branches owned by the Yorkshire, making it Britain's second largest building society.
