Landlords and tenants 'should meet when tenancy ends'

Monday, 13 December 2010 01:20

Mydeposits.co.uk has suggested ways landlords and property owners can avoid disputes over cleaning charges and damages at the end of a tenancy.

Eddie Hooker, chief executive of the company, said the two parties should meet when a tenancy ceases and carry out a joint inspection of the residence.

According to the website, two-thirds of disagreements are settled between the occupier and the owner before it becomes necessary to proceed with a formal dispute resolution.

If no agreement can be reached, a tenant can apply for the mydeposits.co.uk free resolution service, if the money they have put down on their residence is protected by the firm.
