People jetting off for stag or hen parties abroad should check their insurance policy covers unusual activities before they go, atravel company has warned.
Stag and hen nights are commonly turning into weekends away, with 70 per cent of young British people preferring to spend their stag and hen weekends abroad, according to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
And as the weekend may include unusual activities alongside the traditional partying, it is worth checking you are covered, Anna Makin Made from Designaventure said.
"We advise everyone to take out their own insurance and check that they are covered for the activities that they're doing," Ms Makin Made said.
"Sometimes there's a little clause saying they don't cover for machine gun shooting, so they need to check with their insurance company that they are covered."
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office also said that in 2005, 24 per cent of those travelling abroad for stag and hen weekends had encountered trouble such as lost passports or being arrested - yet nearly half of all partygoers travelled without valid insurance.
Party goers are also warned being drunk may also make their travel insurance invalid – meaning a slip on the pavement at 3am in foreign clubland could turn into an expensive mistake if you have to cover medical and repatriation costs.
