Myfinances.co.uk daily flick through the finance pages finds Mervyn King rattled over incentives, and home owners looking for longer mortgages.

The Telegraph reports on Bank of England governor Mervyn King's comments on City bonuses to the Treasury select committee yesterday.

He said: "Banks themselves have come to realise in the recent crisis they are paying the price themselves for having designed compensation packages which provide incentives that are not, in the long run, in the interests of the banks themselves and I would like to think that would change."

It also reports EMI pension trustees were seeking help from regulators and the oil boom is proving a bonanza for investors.

The Daily Mail covers RBS move to lower its mortgage rates – but the paper also covers warnings from David Blanchflower of recession.

The paper also looks at reports homeowners are opting for longer fixed rate mortgage deals amid the current credit crunch.

The Times reports new road tax rules for larger cars could be extended to vehicles up to seven years in age – meaning many families could face an extra £245 tax bill a year.

Furthermore owners of a Renault Espace, Vauxhall Zafira, VW Sharan, Ford Galaxy, Citroën C8 or Volvo XC90 that emit more than 225g of carbon dioxide per kilometre, are set to pay £430 in 2010 compared with £210 this year.

The Daily Express covers a slowdown in ISA sales, as investors get cold feet about putting cash in the markets.
