Investments: ISA investor look for funds with risk
ISA investors are increasingly looking for funds with higher risks, with emerging markets topping the list of funds.
Data from Skipton Financial Services' fund supermarket shows four of the top five bestselling funds were emerging market or commodities funds.
"It is remarkable that, despite the volatility of the global equity markets, our clients are putting their faith in emerging markets and commodities funds," said Simon Holt, managing director of Skipton Financial Services.
"Clearly the more sophisticated investors understand the buying opportunities and the benefits of buying cheaply into long-term growth potential.
"It will be fascinating to see in a year's time where Skipton FS investors think the next big money making opportunity will be."
Nick Raynor, investment advisor at The Share Centre, explained the UK stock market in 2008 was set for slow growth, but some opportunities did exist.
"The current credit crisis is yet another example of an external factor which will continue to affect the stock market for sometime," said Mr Raynor.
“We don’t expect 2008 to be a stellar year for the stock market, but this will create plenty of opportunities for investors to pick up a bargain - it looks as though 2008 will be the year of the stock picker not the market follower."
