Nationwide cuts personal loan rate to lowest in Britain

Thursday, 10 November 2011 11:59

Nationwide has announced that it has cut the rate on its personal loan product to 6.1 per cent APR, the lowest the financial services provider has ever offered.

This is also the lowest rate from any bank or building society in the UK, with the decrease coming into effect from today (November 10th 2011).

Any Nationwide FlexAccount customers who use the account as their main current portal are eligible to apply and the special rate applies to loans between £7,500 and £14,999 paid back over five years.

People who do not have a current account with Nationwide can still benefit from a rate of 6.2 per cent APR representative if they apply for a loan through an aggregator such as a price comparison site.

Nationwide's Graham Pilkington said: "Family finances continue to be stretched and this great rate will appeal to customers looking to consolidate debt or spread the cost of home improvements or other purchases."

Earlier this month, Nationwide announced a new range of children's accounts designed to help parents and grandparents save for their youngsters' future financial needs.
