Lloyds TSB account for Brits abroad

Lloyds TSB is promoting its international account after an investigation revealed a passion among Brits for working abroad.

A survey by the bank found almost a third of working people in the UK had been employed overseas at some point in their career.

And 49 per cent of non-retired respondents said they would like to work outside the UK in the future.

Lloyds TSB said its International Account was suitable for those people who had been lured into working or retiring abroad.

Its research also found nearly 20 per cent of Brits found it tricky to manage their finances whilst abroad. Opening a bank account, organising a mortgage and keeping track of finances at home were among the financial hurdles they encountered.

More than three quarters took no action to get their finances into order before leaving the UK.

Stephanie Cousins, head of operations at Lloyds TSB International, said: "Living away from home can be stressful, so you need to do your homework and sort out the important things, like finances, before you depart."

The Lloyds TSB account is available in sterling, euro and US dollar and provides those working abroad with English-speaking round-the-clock telephone and internet banking.

It comes with an international debit card and customers are required to provide an opening deposit of £100, $100 or ?100. There is an account fee of £7.50 per month but the first three months is free.
