Abbey has launched a new two-year fixed-rate mortgage which it is hailing as its latest 'best buy' deal for borrowers.

Abbey is promoting its fixed-rate monthly saver, which offers four per cent interest, as the ideal way to build up a lump sum.

Abbey is extending its 12-month fixed rate savings account at 9.1 per cent.

The Super Saver rate of 9.1 per cent is available if customers put an equal amount or more into any Abbey investment product.

Minimum deposit is £1, and maximum investment is £2m. The offer will be available until September 7th 2008.

Reza Attar-Zadeh, director of savings and investments at Abbey, said: "The Super Saver is ideal for customers creating a diversified portfolio to save for their future."

Customers can apply for the Super Saver by visiting their local branch or can arrange an appointment by telephone on 0800 234 6065. Customers can manage their account by branch, telephone or post.
