Alliance & Leicester: £100 for new customers

An incentive of £100 is being offered to people who switch their current account to Alliance & Leicester.

The bank is offering the cash to anyone who switches to its Premier or Premier 50 current accounts in a bid to encourage people to review their finances and make more of their money.

Andy Muddimer, current account manager at Alliance & Leicester, said research showed two thirds of banking customers had not switched current accounts in the last decade.

He added: "This is a win-win for customers, they get a market-leading current account to make their money stretch further, and they also get to pocket £100 - not bad when money might be tight after Christmas."

The Premier current account has no monthly fee and comes with free annual multi-trip European travel insurance worth up to £60. It also has zero per cent interest and no usage fees on arranged overdrafts for the first year.

The Premier 50 account has a £10 monthly fee, a credit interest rate of 6.5 per cent for one year on balances of up to £2,500, travel insurance and health benefits. It also comes with the same zero per cent deal on overdrafts as the Premier account.

The £100 is paid within four months of the account being opened and provided the customer has transferred direct debits and standing orders using the Premier Switching Service and have funded at least £500 in 11 weeks.
