£100 current account incentive from Alliance & Leicester

New research has revealed that people are reluctant to leave their current account provider despite better offers being available.

To appeal to these savers, Alliance & Leicester are offering a £100 incentive for anyone switching to a Premier or Premier 50 current account.

Alliance & Leicester current accounts manager, Andy Muddimer, said: "It's a shame that some of us fail to put the same amount of effort into organising our finances, as we do with our leisure activities."

A recent survey claims that 67 per cent of British customers have kept the same current account provider for over ten years.

The findings also show that only 13 per cent will be looking to switch to a more beneficial deal, despite 25 per cent of those asked being more likely to use their overdraft facility.

The Premier Direct and Premier 50 accounts also boast a 6.5 per cent AER interest rate, while the Premier 21 account for 16 to 21-year-olds has an 8 per cent rate.

Another offer to entice people to switch is the recommend a friend scheme, which gives £25 to both the existing member and the new current account customer.

A spokesman for Alliance & Leicester said: "The Alliance & Leicester 'premier switching service' takes the hassle out of transferring existing direct debits and standing orders from a customer's current bank when switching accounts."
