Barclays banking: More on your mobile

Thursday, 21 May 2009 12:00

Barclays has revamped its website to allow customers better access to their bank account via their mobile phone.

Barclays.mobi allows people to view their account balance and statements and also make transfers between accounts and payments to external sources using the browser on their phone.

But the website has been specifically designed to be viewed on a mobile phone.

According to Sean Gilchrist, Barclays digital banking director, the bank is the only one to offer a specific domain site of this kind.

He said: "We have experienced phenomenal growth, more than 100 per cent since the start of the year, with customers browsing banking services through their mobile phone.

"With this increased consumer demand it's important for Barclays to continually build on the strategy of improving the services for mobile banking customers."
