Abbey offers £50 Facebook student account bonus

Abbey is giving away £50 an hour until the end of September in a prize draw on Facebook.

The Money for Nothing giveaway is being organised to promote the bank's Student Account, which offers a £50 cash bonus to customers when they open the account.

Since the beginning of September, £50 prizes have been won every hour in the draw, which is open to both customers and non-customers.

Now Abbey is reminding potential players that there are less than ten days left until the competition closes, and is urging people to log onto its Facebook fan page, www.facebook.com/abbeystudents.

Gillian Almond, head of Abbey Current Accounts, said the bank had received an amazing response to the prize draw so far.

She added: "We know money is pretty hard to come by when you are a student, which is why we provide £50 in cash and a very good in-credit interest rate on our Student Account.

"There is also an interest-free overdraft to help with initial outgoings, or unexpected living costs."

The in-credit rate is two per cent for balances of up to £500. Abbey also provide 24-hour online banking as part of the student account package.
