Nationwide-run building societies launch 4% bonus saver

Monday, 19 October 2009 12:00

Cheshire, Derbyshire and Dunfermline Building Societies have launched a monthly savings account with a conditional bonus rate of four per cent.

To receive the rate, which is linked to the Bank of England base rate plus 3.5 per cent, customers must make no more than one withdrawal and must miss no more than one monthly deposit until October 31st, 2010.

If savers exceed these limits the interest will revert to the standard rate of the base rate plus 1.5 per cent.

However, there is flexibility in how much customers can deposit each month.

Alistair Welham, head of products and marketing for the building societies, which are run by Nationwide, said: "Savers can vary the amounts they invested from a minimum of £10 up to £250 each month according to their financial circumstances."
