Santander cuts packaged account fees

Santander is slashing 50 per cent off the price of two of its packaged accounts to help customers over Christmas.

Anyone holding an Abbey Reward Bank Account and the Alliance & Leicester Premier 50 Account will now pay £5 per month instead of £10. The deal lasts for three months.

Benefits of the accounts include annual travel insurance for the family, health cover and breakdown assistance plus both products offer an in-credit interest rate of six per cent for 12 months on balances of up to £2,500.

Emma Walkley, current account manager at the banks, said: "Now is a great time to review your account and make sure it satisfies your banking needs, and gives a good return on your hard earned cash, and the benefits that are important to you.

"This could also provide a very important safety net if you go overdrawn this Christmas, thanks to an interest-free overdraft."

The deal is open to customers opening the accounts between November 9th and December 13th and to existing customers.
