HSBC: £120k bursary bonus for students

Four lucky students could benefit from a financial helping hand from HSBC which is offering £120,000 in bursaries.

The bank will provide £10,000 for three years to help each of the students to make the most of their time at university.

It is inviting its first year student customers to complete a short online application explaining why they chose their degree and how they would use the funding.

Applications will be shortlisted and a final decision on the four lucky students will be made by a panel of judges which includes representatives from the bank, National Union of Students and Ucas.

The bursaries will eventually be handed out in November 2009.

Lucy Payne, HSBC's youth and student manager, said: "This is the second year we have made bursaries available and we are delighted to be able to do so again.

"HSBC invests heavily in financial education and literacy, focusing a lot of attention on helping young people and students to be responsible with their finances."
