Lloyds TSB to text bank balances

Lloyds TSB is providing balance updates for its customers via text message.

The bank said it was the first to launch the service in which it provides up-to-the-minute snapshots of customers' accounts on demand.

The feature is the latest addition to its range of mobile services which allows customers to monitor and manage their money via their mobile phone.

The service allows customers to move money securely between Lloyds TSB accounts and check their last six transactions as well as receiving a range of text alerts keeping them informed.

Peter Jackson, managing director of consumer banking Lloyds Banking Group, said: "The aim is simple. To make it as easy as possible for customers to view their balance, keep on top of their finances day to day, and transfer money when they need to.

"We were one of the first banks to launch mobile banking in the UK, and now we're the first to introduce Balance on Demand."
