HSBC has launched the Premier family service - a range of accounts which enable parents to help children manage their finances.

The package includes a current account, wealth management service, access to preferential mortgage and savings rates plus the Mymoney range of accounts for seven to 17 year olds.

According to HSBC Wealth Management the service, which also includes deals on travel insurance and life cover, is aimed at mass affluent people with an "international mindset".

The bank is promoting the package as it publishes research showing more than 90 per cent of UK parents want their children to travel abroad to learn about new cultures.

Brendan Cook, at HSBC Wealth Management, said: "One of a parent's biggest worries when their kids are travelling is how they might cope if they [run] into trouble and need help.

"HSBC has recently launched the HSBC Premier Family Service, which offers a range of services, including a unique service that offers immediate financial support from a safe pair of hands."

And the service also enables parents to help children manage their finances and learn the true value of money, he said.

Mr Cook added: "Parents should not miss out on the benefits of this service which can ensure both peace of mind and real value."
