Barclays boosts mobile banking features

Barclays customers can now make payments from their bank account using their mobile phone.

Thanks to the latest development to Barclays' mobile banking service, customers can now pay a third party while on the go.

Once the beneficiaries' details have been set up via the bank's online banking service, customers can make the payment on their phones whenever they like.

Sean Gilchrist, digital banking director at Barclays, said: "The growth of consumers using our mobile banking services has been phenomenal.

"We have delivered on our promise and continued to develop the facilities that customers tell us they need."

Mobile banking was launched by Barclays in May 2009. It already allows customers to view mini-statements, check their balance and make transfers between their own accounts via internet-enabled phones.
