Eligibility on Santander fee-free current account extended

Customers with over £10,000 in savings with Santander will be able to open the money lender's Zero Current Account from January next year.

The financial credit option - currently available to people with mortgage and investment products offered by the institution - was the first of its kind in the UK and offers free ATM access around the world.

Almost four million Britons would be eligible for the account if they chose to switch from their current bank to the new service.

Vim Maru, director of retail products at the financial institution, said: "At Santander we set out to offer the best deals to customers who bring or hold their main bank account with us."
