Santander offering incentive to switch bank accounts

People looking to switch from their current account to one provided by Santander have until December 12th to be eligible for the £100 cash gift provided on its opening.

In addition to the money, customers benefit from the five per cent credit interest that comes with the Zero, Reward and Premium deals when they change to one of them from their main financial holding.

"Only seven per cent of people in the UK have switched their current account in the past year," noted Gillian Almond, head of current accounts at the bank.

She noted this demonstrates people may be missing out on benefits offered by other deals by failing to shop around.
