Santander brings back £100 switching incentive

Santander have brought back their popular switching incentive for customers who move their existing main current account to Santander.

Customers who open a Santander Preferred Current Account can benefit from an interest rate of five per cent on balances up to £2,500. In addition to this new customers receive a £100 credit to their account for switching, which is credited to their account three months after it is opened. The offer is valid for a limited period from May 3rd.

The £100 switching incentive is available to customers who switch to Santander’s Zero, Reward, Premium or Preferred Current Account. This offer was previously only available for online accounts but is now valid for customers who open an account by phone or in branch too. Customers must pay in at least £1,000 a month to qualify for the £100 switching incentive.

Santander offers customers who are switching a hassle-free service to help customers move all of their direct debits and standing orders over to their new current account.

In a further effort to encourage customers to switch most new customers will be able to open a current account with an overdraft that matches the overdraft they had with their previous current account.

Nici Audhlam-Gardiner, banking director at Santander, said: "People who want a first class current account paying 5 per cent in-credit interest and with the flexibility of a free arranged overdraft for the first 12 months need look no further than our Preferred Current Account.
