Post Office issues new online saver account

Individuals may wish to consider putting a little money aside as the Post Office has unveiled a new product providing a 1.2 per cent bonus on top of the standard rate of 1.65 per cent for the first year.

Entitled the Online Saver, consumers will receive an annual rate of 2.85 per cent/AER, with interest paid monthly and annually.

Richard Norman, director of savings for the Post Office, stated customers will benefit from unlimited withdrawals and cost-free access whenever they need.

"This new launch offers savers looking to manage their money online the opportunity to do so without sacrificing a good return on their money," he said.

People interested in signing up for the product require a minimum deposit of £1 and they can to do so online now.

Extra money can be added to the account at any time and savers can add funds up to £2 million.
