HSBC offers £1,000 extra on interest free overdraft

Students who are on the lookout for a better bank account may be interested in a new offer from HSBC offering an overdraft of up to £3,000 interest free during their studies.

Individuals who opt to sign up for the HSBC Student Bank Account may also find the offer of two years free travel insurance tempting.

This is available when a minimum of £250 is deposited between August 1st and October 31st this year.

Head of student banking at the organisation Helen Gentry said: "For many students going to university this autumn, this will be first time they have had to manage their own money and this can be a daunting prospect."

As a result of this, she stated, the bank has opted to raise the fee free element of the overdraft in order to enable young people to make the most of their time in higher education with fewer concerns about finances.
