Principality BS launches 15 month bond in aid of charity

Principality Building Society has introduced a 15 month savings bond that donates a percentage of money to a cancer charity.

The Cancer Research Wales Bond pays savers a fixed interest rate of 3.05 per cent AER.

At the same time, the building society will donate an amount equivalent to 0.1 per cent interest on the total funds invested in the account to its adopted charity.

Last year, the Principality donated more than £2,200 to Wales Air Ambulance through another savings product.

Savings manager Kate Murray said: “This year savers can help us to support Cancer Research Wales, a charity that provides invaluable funding to support research.

“We hope this year’s bond will be equally if not more successful, to help make a significant difference in this area.”

Savers can deposit from £500 up to £2 million into the account. Additional deposits are also permitted while the bond remains on sale, but withdrawals are not allowed.

The bond is available online, by post or in branch, so savers do not have to be resident in Wales to access it.
