Energy prices in the UK continue to soar and predicted price rises suggest this is a trend that is set to continue. Changing suppliers is a straightforward process and there is a large range of suppliers and tariffs to pick from that could potentially slash the cost of your household energy bills.
There are many reasons for consumers wishing to switch gas and electricity provider with the main one unsurprisingly being to find a cheaper deal. More recently as the importance of global warming rises is in the mind of many UK households, helping the environment is another reason and there are now several green energy providers in the market aiming to reduce household’s carbon footprint and save them money in the process.
Contrary to what many households think, switching energy provider could not be easier and there is no danger of losing your energy supply at anytime nor being charged twice as suppliers coordinate the switchover with payments carried over. Now that you are aware how simple the process is it is important to consider whether you want a duel energy provider or separate gas and electricity suppliers. A combined gas and electricity package will usually work out cheaper but you may lose out in terms of customer service. You may also want to choose a capped tariff so you are protected against any future energy price hikes. However, should price levels fall you will be stuck with your current fixed tariff until the specified term ends.
